Do Your Rear Brakes Lock Up
Before The Fronts?

If your rear brakes lock up before the fronts, then there is typically a problem with the front brakes. This condition will wear the rear brakes prematurely since they are doing all or most of the braking.

Caused by: Front pad friction material is different than the rear.

Solution: Match front and rear friction material types.

Caused by: Front brakes are contaminated with oil or grease.

Solution: Inspect and clean as necessary. Find and repair cause of oil/grease.

Caused by: Faulty brake proportioning valve.

Solution: Have proportioning valve checked for proper operation.

Caused by: Front pads or shoes are worn out.

Solution: Replace pad or shoes.

Caused by: Malfunctioning front calipers.

Solution: Check front calipers for proper operation.
